Ever since the arrival of ChatGPT, all of its competitors, and eventually Google’s AI Overviews, the SEO market shifted. As more and more clients look for AI visibility, SEO agencies adapted to fill that demand.
Today, pretty much every SEO agency also sells Generative Engine Optimization services, or GEO, and claims results. But GEO is still a fairly new discipline. SEO has established ways to track performance, like rankings. AI search does not work the same way. Results can change, and the same question can return different answers. That makes it difficult to separate agencies with proven GEO expertise from those simply adding AI terminology to existing SEO offerings.
In September 2026, the AI-search monitoring platform Rankscale published a study of 33 agencies assessed along four evidence axes: AI-assistant visibility, third-party review reputation, verifiable experience, and a penalty for pages on an agency’s own domain ranking “best agencies” with itself near the top. The goal? To find a more objective answer to the question: What are the best GEO agencies?
The study excludes self-reported GEO performance claims as proof of the agency’s own quality because no third party can verify them. The methodology makes sense, but as much as we appreciate Rankscale’s effort to bring more structure and transparency to a difficult question, that approach also means the study never looks at the evidence that matters most to a buyer before signing: case studies.
So we did that ourselves. For each of the 13 agencies in or near the study’s top 10, we examined what has actually been published about client GEO outcomes, to determine our own confidence level in each of the agencies. Based on that, we created our own top 10.
Our Top 10 Best GEO Agencies
| Agency | Rankscale’s Ranking | Highlight | |
| 1. | Coalition Technologies | 1 | Names its clients and reports what AI search did for each one, backed by the largest case study library in the study. |
| 2. | WebFX | 2 | The deepest set of GEO case studies here: named clients, AI-specific numbers, and the method spelled out. |
| 3. | OuterBox | 4 | Documents a client earning $75,000 in revenue from ChatGPT referrals, though the write-up stops short of naming them or giving a starting figure. |
| 4. | Victorious | 8 | One of the few firms whose GEO work is described publicly by a client, on a platform it does not control. |
| 5. | SmartSites | 3 | 1,252 client reviews, more than any other agency, though its published case studies focus on traditional search rather than AI. |
| 6. | Ignite Visibility | 7 | Won an industry award for AI search work, but tends to report results as a share of total leads rather than a percentage jump. |
| 7. | Thrive Agency | 5 | Publishes some of the biggest AI numbers, though the clients are unnamed and the method is not shown. |
| 8. | 1Digital Agency | 6 | A serious GEO offering, with published wins that so far centre on ecommerce revenue rather than AI visibility. |
| 9. | KlientBoost | – | The highest-rated agency in the dataset, but with that reputation built mainly on paid media rather than search. |
| 10. | Disruptive Advertising | – | Ranks itself the premier GEO agency on its own domain, though it has yet to publish GEO client work to go with it. |
1. Coalition Technologies
Confidence: Very High.
The broadest evidence base in the study, with 861 case studies. On GEO specifically, Coalition names clients and reports AI-native metrics: AI platform sessions up 261.6% for Sugatsune, LLM engaged sessions up 149.1% for P3 America, AI search sessions up 7,620% for Omni Cheer and 5,087% for GK Elite.
2. WebFX
Confidence: Very High.
The deepest GEO case study library here, every study naming a client and reporting AI results. Thompson Tractor: AI-source traffic up 586%, AI leads up 500%, AI Overviews visibility up 136%, citations in 10 of 10 tracked LLMs, with the method disclosed. Repeats across IGX Solutions, URAC, Enabling Devices and RC Mowers.
3. OuterBox
Confidence: Medium.
Strong stated methodology, and a Shorty Awards entry documenting an eCommerce client generating 210 purchases and $75,000 from ChatGPT referrals. The client is unnamed with no baseline, and its other circulating numbers reach the public through a competitor’s self-published ranking.
4. Victorious
Confidence: Very High.
Publishes mechanism-level results: 271 AI Overview citations from lemon law content across 35 states, and 1,263 AI Overview citations on YMYL insurance terms. Runs original research, including a 1,540-query study finding AI Overviews and AI Mode often cite different sources for the same query. A Robinson & Henry review on Clutch describes the GEO transition and a 19% rise in case volume, the only named-client, third-party-hosted GEO testimony in the set.
5. SmartSites
Confidence: Low.
Third in the study on the deepest review base in it, 1,252 reviews. But reviews are not GEO-specific, its 350 case studies were counted as a total rather than by service, and we found none reporting AI citations or LLM traffic. No GEO service page.
FAQ
What are the best GEO agencies in 2026?
According to Rankscale’s ‘Who Is Actually Winning AI Search?’ study: Coalition Technologies, WebFX, SmartSites, OuterBox, Thrive Agency, 1Digital Agency, Ignite Visibility, Victorious, Searchbloom, and First Page Sage are the best GEO agencies in 2026. Among those, Coalition Technologies, WebFX and Victorious have the strongest verifiable GEO proof.
Is GEO different from AI SEO and AEO?
In practice, no. Rankscale’s study correctly identifies all three as one practice area, on the basis that any distinctions agencies draw are immaterial to the question a buyer faces. Search demand still favours the older label, with “AI SEO agency” at roughly 1,300 monthly searches against roughly 590 for “GEO agency,” though GEO is climbing at a 238% trend increase.
Can an agency really have years of GEO experience?
No. GEO is about two years old as a named service, no provider has a long independently audited track record, and anyone claiming a decade of it is describing SEO experience relabeled.
